ryn's Morning Tunes: Rise & Shine

This most recent mixtape theme was suggested to me by my most Western friend (at least to my knowledge). So she may able to actually download this tonight and set it for her tomorrow morning if she stalks well enough...

ryn's Sunny (Beach) Jams, Vol. 1

For the past few days, the sun has been in fulllll effect. It was supposed to stick around right through the week and into our weekend, but it doesn't seem so hopeful anymore... but who knows, weather change all the time. All this warm sunny weather and the blue skies that have come along with, have me pretty stoked to take a bike ride down to a beach or park. My newest mix is influenced by just that - tunes I wanna hear while enjoying a cooler full of beers down by the water while tossing a frisbee; lord knows I don't want to touch down in any nasty bodies of water in and around Ottawa just yet! Just some tunes I'm into that I'm sure you've heard, along with some you might not have, so check it out! Also, if you've got any requests for themes for future mixtapes or past themes that you especially want to hear more of, let me knoooww.

ryn's Recent Likes, vol. 1

This week is pretty self-explanatory for the most part. This mix is a collection of some of the music I've most recently been listening to. Tracks of alllll kinds! You've got some r&b, some indie rock, some hip hop, some radio rock (I'm looking at YOU, Foo Fighters) and some other goodies along the way. These are all jams I've been into off of albums that I've, for the most part, been digging. Oh, and that new Foo album Wasting Light, I think, is pretty kick ass. You've probably gotten a taste of it in some capacity recently, as Dave and the crew have been taking over radio, tv, and internet as of late. Anyway, that's for another post.

For this mix, I've actually changed the "Album Name" and track numbers for each of these songs for the sake of organization in your iTunes (or god forbid Windows Media... whatever it is now). If you do use iTunes and want to make it easy on yourself, with the program open, press command+n (Mac) or I believe Ctrl+n (PC) to make a new playlist and just drag the tracks into said playlist. If that's too much for you, click here.

Enjoy! And as always, the link to download the whole damn thing is at the bottom (...Emzy).

ryn's Hip Hop, vol. 1 - Tunes for the Road

Sometimes when I'm driving late at night or on some sunny weekend, I want nothing more than to turn up my radio and just listen to some beats. I do enjoy most types of music, and hip hop is no exception. Especially something witty that I can bob my head to. Anyway, the main theme or idea of this mixtape is hip-hop you can drive to. Some tunes that'll sound real good coming out of your car stereo (and it's woofer). There's some really, really new stuff, and there's some classics. Just stuff I enjoy myself. I hope it is to your liking!

Rush hour... in Ottawa... sucks. Well, rush hour everywhere sucks. But I've put together a set of 20 songs (and a couple bonus tracks) that total at about 1.4hrs of music, which is about how long it takes to cross the city. The general theme I was aiming for with this mixtape is, "upbeat music to lift your post or pre-work/school mood". Varying genres; all stuff that gets me singing or bobbing my head. Same deal as last time too, link at the bottom for download. Get a WinRAR or UnRARx style program to open up the files if you don't already have them. Enjoy!

ryn's Late Night Mix, Vol. 1

Earlier this week Kevmoh came to me and presented the idea of using our blog to create weekly mixtapes with different themes, as he previously mentioned a couple of posts ago. I thought the idea was a fantastic one. This is something him and I used to take part in on more of a seasonal scale (ie; summer mixes, winter mixes). Assuming I personally have the time to do so, I will have a new mixtape up by every Friday... sort of like my own G.O.O.D. Friday! Anyway, without further adieu, I give you my first mixtape of nighttime, bed time, late night tunes to wind your day down to. Just a few favourites I like to fall asleep to. At the bottom I've posted a downloadable link to the playlist! You'll need a decompressing program to open up the .rar file, but those are easy to come by with Google. Enjoy!

New Things Abroad!: Music Mixes

Do you need a music for a certain occasion? A certain mood? A certain… je ne sais quoi?

Well, now you’re going to get it. Starting this week, and going on once a week until the end of time (until I run out of music), I’ve decided I’m going to make themed music mixes. Each mix will have 15 songs on it from a variety of artists. I’m hoping that these mixes will cover a variety of moods: everything from “I just want to dance” to “I just want to make love on languid June evenings!”

Well, enjoy. The first one will be up later tonight.
